Need some help

My kid sister Karen once said she would agree to open my beer cans when my nails are drying. Jump on the plane, Karen, I am thirsty. ;.)

Friday nails again

Without any planning whatsoever, late Friday night or early Saturday morning seems to have become the time of the week to do my nails. I did it last Friday as well and I did it just now, a couple of hours in to Saturday.

Last few weeks I have been using Forever Strong by Maybelline (on left at the picture below) but today I applied Lycra Wear by Rimmel (right at the piccie). There is no visible difference as both are red shades. In fact, I have had the Rimmel's in my toes all the time without feeling that my finger nails do not match with the toes.

As for the colors, you may have guessed that red is my favorite. I do occasionally have a mood to experimenting colors such as black, yellow, green or blue. But 85 % of the time you would find me wearing red nail polish, always on the toes and on the fingers if I do not have to go out. Exceptions are known to have happened, however.

Stiff upper lip

The expression stiff upper lip is generally connected to the idea of keeping emotions under control. Applying lip color, on the other hand, is very much about expressing one's emotions. Having a stiff upper lip in the literal sentence seems to contribute to a better result.

Why is it so much easier to draw a steady line onto the upper lip than the one down? Maybe it is because the jaw has a life of its own. Anway, the color seems to run off the intended area much easier from the down lip.

I usually apply a layer of powder onto my lips before applying the color. I know that a lot of girls use a brush or a pen but I just take it direct from the lipstick. I then apply another layer of powder and another one of the lip color. When ever I need to add the color, I apply another layer of powder. This seems to help avoid the spilling but somehow the upper lift usually remains tidier.

So how could I make the down lip stay put? Stiff, as it were.

About hair care

I realize that I have not written about my hair care in this blog. It is an everyday issue in my life, in both gender modes.

A physical male in my age sooner or later has to face the problem of early signs of baldness. There is a bald spot on top of my head. Since my hair growth is otherwise rich, I tend to do my best to cover that naked spot by combing my hair up and backwards.

I have not let scissors in my hair for about five years. Back then I was in urgent need of a haircut due to an appearance in TV. My regular barber shop let me down, though, whereby I had no alternative but to look for a shop that would agree to cut my hair instantly and without an appointment.

I was lucky enough to find a small shop in northern Tallinn. No other customers were present. I was given the undivided attention of three ladies: one was actually working on my hair, another was the owner of the salon and the third was their friend passing by. They talked with each other in Russian which is not one of my fluent languages but I was able to understand which parts of the conversation was about their private life and which part had to do with my hair. I was addressed in correct Estonian when needed.

The young lady who was doing the actual work discretely pointed out that there was something upstairs that I might want to cover. She offered to make a cut supporting a backwards oriented comb up. I trusted her professional skills and rightly so. The result was a shortish hair that covered what needed to be covered and focused the attention to parts without a growth problem.

That cut has survived all these years. My hair is now obviously much longer. Brushed back it reaches very far below my shoulders, in fact down to my mid back.

With that kind of hair I would have a problem appearing in public in male mode. Since I wear discrete layers of foundation and powder also as male, a hair hanging loose that long would definitely make my look too girlish. Which is why I always set up my hair in large rollers for the night to get volume. It also looks much shorter than it actually is. The difference between male and female modes is that I usually leave some curls if I do not need to go out.

Hitherto I have bought my rolling foam and fastening spray at the local LIDL store. Both products are of not a major brand and the price is friendly enough. I have gotten used to them by now. I usually consume less than two bottles of each a month.

Now for the last two or three weeks the fastening spray has not been available at the store. I have also noticed that the shelves have not been filled up with the foam. I therefore bought another extra couple of bottles of the foam just in case they were considering to stop selling it.

But I had to buy another brand of the fastening spray. It was a brand more advertised but still for a friendly price. I thought I could give it a chance, at least hoping to get access again to the spray I am used to.

Today was the first day I needed to use the new spray. It does fix and fasten my hair better than my regular spray. It also gives my hair a great volume. Unfortunately, though, there is a distinct female smell of perfume in the spray which is very likely to cause me problems when I go out in what is supposed to be a male mode.

So now I am feeling somewhat unsecured. The new spray is the only one I have at house. Going out without fixing my hair is a non option. Going out after fixing it with that spray does not sound like a good idea either.

So please, dear LIDL, give me my hair spray back. If you need to rise the price, I am happy to pay a bit more for it. Just make it available for me, please.

Outfit of today

Today I felt like a long skirt and six inch wedge heels. One of my favorite outfits.

Still thirsty

After 34 hours active on my heels, I finally managed to sleep for 8 hours. I did not feel very tired, nor very thirsty as I woke up on Saturday. I had a good breakfast and even managed to get some work done.

However, it has been a bad hair day! I was obviously not in the mood for a set up when I hit the sack and that is to be seen upstairs now. I am having a careless pony tail at the moment. Luckily, there is nobody to see me.

I am still more or less thirsty as the piccie above will prove. Not drunken as yet (not much), I am able to do something about the thirst. ;-)
